By Richard Woodcock If you've been watching the pros on TV then you know that a lot of them have replaced their 3 & 4 irons with hybrids. Hybrid irons are especially helpful on longer Par 3's - typically the hardest holes on the course. "....I made myself a set of custom made hybrids this year (I replaced my 3, 4, & 5 irons with hybrids) and on average I took 2 to 3 strokes off my score per 9 holes! I won my golf league this year using these hybrid clubs!! In my opinion, many amateurs could benefit from replacing long irons with hybrid clubs...."(Woody)
" I was playing at Firestone Country Club last year and I was able to reach the longer par 3's with my hybrids that I couldn't reach before with my long irons. As I have gotten older (I hit the big 57 this year) long Par 3’s have been my nemesis. I also have some physical limitations due to an accident some years ago when my back was broken.
The hybrid club head glides through the grass and doesn't get tangled like many irons do. Now that I have my trusty hybrids I feel very confident when I step up on the tee box, address a ball in the rough or I’m chipping from beside the green. These hybrids have improved my game and they can help your game too……” (Woody) Hybrids can be very forgiving clubs for beginners. I highly recommend hybrid clubs to replace hard to hit 3, 4, & 5 long irons. About the Author: As a Certified Dynamic Clubfitter Woody enjoys custom fitting clubs for his customers.
